“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me.”
Most
children’s sayings are embedded in truth, but this one is a fallacy.
Bones break, but they eventually heal. But names can cause emotional wounds
which may never completely heal.
Be careful, especially when emotional, not to hurt someone
with vicious words aimed at them. These words become a weapon,
and aiming a weapon at someone for no rational reason is sinful.
