A great kindnesses is visiting a nursing home. Tell the charge nurse you’d like to spend a little time with one who never receives visitors (they miss outside contact), and show your vaccination card. If they won’t allow you in their room, ask if they can come to the lobby or outside garden.

Talk to the resident, even if they’ve lost their physical or verbal skills. When you leave, they may not seem appreciative. But you will have given them an amazing gift – the desire to stay alive. Your spirit will feel refreshed, no matter what your life is like – and so too the one you spent some time with.
