We must make as little or as much quality time as needed for introspection; to examine who we are now, where we are going and what we want to accomplish for ourselves and for our personal world.

If someone in your immediate family, or a good friend, came to you for advice, what would you do? You’d find somewhere private – devoid of distractions, turn off your cell phone, and give him or her your complete attention. This would be the right thing to do.

Do the same thing for yourself as well. After all, who is more important than you?

  1. Oh Raz,

How I need to hear those words. Why does it feel like life is just is just eating me up? I sincerely seek to do the “right thing” and find that meditation time….I know it is for my benefit–body, mind and spirit–yet it seems impossible.

Looking to find that wee bit of time…hmmm…when I finally get to that point where I think I actually can carve out time, something sucks it up. Even at night, when I say the time is now….I will gather myself and sleep finds me.

Am I alone, here? I think not. Megan’s wedding is next weekend–I have Elaine on that “waiting list” and love Nurse Rita and Company….standardized testing begins in two weeks and graduation is late, due to Hurricane Sandy (6/21), and our major re-construction at the family shore home has begun with hopes to have things ready by end of June…(come up for air, Mermie!!)…

All this to say, if I don’t find time, time will find me….I have seen this to be the case with several friends thru the years….with life-changes like loss of employment, illness, death of a loved one….

Still taking my quiet time in the car enroute to work, I do create a tranquil space (dodging crazy drivers texting from time to time, LOL!), to give my day to Hashem, and to give my gratitude for my blessings.

    An excellent Smile…..
    Light & Love,
    Mermie

    • Mermie,
I understand your difficulty. Your situation of not finding time is shared by many. But we always make time for what seems important to us; the doctors appointment, watching our child in a recital, visiting a sick parent, etc. You must do the same for you.

How about leaving for work twenty minutes early one day and pulling over in a quiet spot, before your day gets hectic and tense? Trying to be introspective while driving has too many distractions, as you must concentrate on the road. How about during the Sabbath morning, before your day’s plans? You can justify it as time for you and God to look at yourself. You can find other times – just do it.
