If you feel doing something for your friends shows kindness on your part, you are bringing up negative spirituality in your soul. Having a friend means having a commitment to that relationship, and that also means having an obligation to him/her.
You know the saying, “A friend in need is a friend indeed”. Being a friend means being there when you are needed; and the closer your friend, the greater your obligation should be. A true friend will be there, not out of kindness but out of commitment.
When you do something out of kindness, what you are doing is keeping your independence and doing things on your terms. This is neither commitment nor obligation. This is keeping your control over the situation.
You are very fortunate if you have good friends. Cherish them. Don’t do things for them because you feel you are being kind. Do things for them because they know you will keep your commitment to them.
