There are those who, when in dire straits, just believe God will help them. But first they must be committed to taking action on their own. Then, and only then, might that great hand from above reach down to help them; and frequently by having the right person or people come into their life at that time.

Work to keep a good relationship with everyone. You never know when and who may be pushed towards you by the Omnipotent.

  1. Well said and so true! Everyone is familiar with the expression “God helps those who help themselves.” This is probably the most often quoted “Biblical” phrase that is not found in the Bible. It is actually a quote by Ben Franklin from his Poor Richard’s Almanac of 1757. The Jewish take on this is you should not just wait around expecting God to answer your prayers. Take the initiative and do what you can to bring your prayers to fulfillment and God will help your efforts. As the Talmud teaches: B’derech sheh-adam rotzeh leyleych, ba molichin oto (In the direction a person wants to go, God will lead him). God will help bring your dreams to completion if you make every effort to do so.
